Carlo Ancelotti has joined Madrid and found Cristiano Ronaldo in great shape. Both the technical staff and his teammates have been impressed with his exceptional level at the start of pre-season training – intense, agile and more competitive than the rest of the players in Real Madrid's first team.

During the first sessions of the club's next stage, he has become the example to follow within the 'Blancos' dressing room, both physically and mentally. The new trainer and his assistants have implemented intense exercises with the ball during early training sessions, so the players can get back into top shape. And the forward has been really enjoying them.

Fast moving and always available to receive the ball, with instant control from the first touch and great speed, the 'Madeira Magician' knows this will be a very important season for him and his team. After being knocked out of the Champions League in the semi-finals for three years in a row, Real Madrid has to bounce off the ropes fighting hard for the team's much sought after 'Décima' – its tenth European Cup title. And if it is to get to this important milestone, then Ronaldo needs to be at his very best.

During the second training session of this pre-season session, Cristiano Ronaldo showed his level of commitment and his competitive side. Ancelotti had to calm the Portuguese down after he got angry when one of his teammates had held him back during a training drill with the ball.
